Abstract: The purpose of the article is to reveal more deeply the uniqueness of the collection of old prints of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine for modern research in the field of the history of medicine, to present the old medical prints stored in the collections of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine as documentary sources for the study of the history of world medicine. The methodological basis of the publication is the general scientific principles of historicism, systematicity and objectivity. Achieving the set goal was implemented with the help of a number of scientific methods used in historical-bookscience and historical-library studies: book studies, bibliographic, paleographic, source studies, comparative. Scientific novelty: copies of medical old prints of the XV–XVIII centuries. from the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine funds authorships of Western European physicians and pharmacologists have not been the object of bibliographic research until now. The historical and bibliographic characteristics of the presented editions visualize the history of medicine, illustrate the scientific achievements of physicians of the past, and facilitate familiarization with the original texts of the works of innovative doctors. The source analysis of provenances, which contain copies of publications, informs about their distribution and use in the XVI–XIX centuries. Ownership notes, ex-libris and super-ex-libris of medical old prints of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine record their existence in the possession of physicians, pharmacists, storage in monastery book collections and private libraries of people not related to medical activities. Conclusions: in the context of the scientific achievements of the leading physicians of the past, a description of the editions of their main works in various fields of medicine (anatomy, surgery, therapy, infectious diseases, pharmacology, embryology) that are currently kept in the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine funds is presented. Among them are the works of physicians of Antiquity and the Middle Ages: Hippocrates, K. Galen, Celsus, Dioscorides Pedanius, Avicenna; physicians of the Modern era: anatomists – A. Vesaliy, S. Blancar, J. Swammerdam, U. Harvey; the innovative doctor Paracelsus; surgeons – A. Pare and P. Dionis; infectious disease specialist D. Fracastoro; pharmacologists – L. Fuchs, P. Matioli, Y. V. Weinman. It was emphasized that old medical publications are an important segment of the information resource of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine and deserve the due attention of domestic researchers.
