Prospects for the Development of Multimedia Technologies in Library Networks

Abstract: The article analyzes multimedia technologies in library networks with integration of services, standards and protocols of data transmission in them, efficiency of use of resources in multimedia library networks. The technique of designing and unified system approach to the estimation of processes of transmission of different classes of information and types of telecommunication services (service) is disclosed. Prospects for their technical implementation, development and implementation of certain types of services using modern protocols for transmitting multimedia information in the information and library environment are outlined. An analysis of the methods of designing and analysis of digital integrated service networks (CMS) in the library environment, as well as a unified system approach to the assessment of the processes of transmission of different classes of information and types of telecommunication services. The dependencies of library networks with service integration were investigated and the following information was obtained: - comparative qualitative assessments of the capabilities of protocols for the types of telecommunication services considered; - options for joint implementation of several types of services based on a single protocol. Thus, the general scheme of justification and selection of algorithmic information structures of the CIS will consist of the following sequence: - assessment of the structure and quantitative characteristics of the network traffic; - determination based on this desirable characteristics of the projected network; - exploring the capabilities of modern telecommunications protocols and selecting the most appropriate for the designed network. The conclusions about the possibility, prospects of technical implementation and implementation of certain types of services using modern protocols for transmission of multimedia information in the information and library environment are made. It is established that this sphere of activity has great prospects for further development and is characterized by steady increase and expansion of the number and range of services, changes in cost and quality of service.
