Historians from Southern Ukraine in Encyclopaedic Discourse of ХІХ – ХХ Centuries

Abstract: The article analyzes the participation of historians who lived and worked in the territory of Southern Ukraine in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, in contemporary encyclopedic projects. On the other hand, it was researched how the figures of southern Ukrainian historians were covered in encyclopedic editions. It was established that the main contribution to the encyclopedic case was made by the Odesa authors. Their articles were devoted to a wide range of issues of history and historiography, from ancient times to modern history. The considerable contribution and authority of southern Ukrainian historians is evidenced by the fact that most of them are written in separate articles in encyclopedic editions of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. This creates a solid historiographical basis for the modern elaboration of their biographies.
