Antoniuk T. Department of foreign Ukrainica of the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine: priorities of activity and prospects of developmentAbstract: In the article the priorities and prospects of the foreign Ukrainistics department of the Book Science Institute of the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine are scrutinized. Attention is focused on improving such important activities as scientific and information-library cooperation with native and foreign research centers of Diaspora that will strengthen the effectiveness of the branch. An important priority for the near term employees of the department is to create electronic resources, their publication and thus provide new opportunities for remote users, enhance scientific work by preparing articles, monographs, participation in conferences at various levels: regional, national and international. Special attention will be given to the description, study and disclosure of Ukrainian studies literature in foreign languages, which the fund holds about five thousand units. Among the priorities of the department research – the study of the history of book culture in Ukraine and its organic component – book culture diaspora. Presentations as their own and trained scientists Diaspora book editions have become traditional in the activities of the department and to promote research and information and library relations with all interested in studying the Ukrainian diaspora in Ukraine and outside partners. An important problem is the spread of knowledge about the Ukrainian diaspora through the systematic creation of exhibits related to certain events and anniversaries in the history of Ukrainian diaspora and its prominent figures.
