The Zhytomyr Public Library: foundation and history of becoming (Based on «Volynskie hubernskie vedomosti» newspaper)Abstract: The article describes the activities of the Zhytomyr public library since the mid of 60th and until the end of the nineteenth century. Based on the materials of the official publication of Volyn province – "Volynskie hubernskie vedomosti" . Special attention is paid on the logistics of the library and its contents. An attempt was made to trace the dynamics of the receipt of funds to the library and the costs of its maintenance.
