Kurhanova O. Fingerprint as an Element of Bibliographical Description of the Elzeveir Collection in Electronic Catalogue of Old and Rare Books Department of VNLUAbstract: The article underlines the necessity for application of fingerprint in bibliographical description of editions from Elzeveir series ‘Republics’. Using the example of Helvetiorum respublica (1627), Respublica et Status Regni Hungariae (1634) and Respublica Romana (1629) copies, stored in old and rare books department of Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine, distinctive features in usage of LOC-fingerprint and STCN-fingerprint are compared. LOCfingerprint is widely spread in world electronic catalogs, which makes it efficient for identification and attribution of editions. The advantage of STCNfingerprint is in possibility to differentiate variants of editions with similar typeset.
