International standards of metadata for description of library and archival materials and museum objectsAbstract: The article considers main international metadata standards, which are used in librarian, archival and museum work for description and access to the resources. Characteristics of 4 types of metadata are given: metadata structure standards, which determine sets of data elements; data content standards, which determine rules of formation of data elements; metadata standards expressed in machine-readable form; value standards metadata.
