Book heritage science in the library science’s systemAbstract: The article covers the theoretical aspects of the library science pertaining to the rare and valuable books – so-called ‘book heritage’. The author refers to the complex of researches and activities in this field as to be a ‘book heritage science’. The importance of this branch of the library science in the realization of the actual global and regional programs directed to the preservation and popularization of the historical and cultural heritage has been shown. The book heritage science should take a special place in the system of library’s activities and investigations due to the traditional organization of library’s stocks and appropriately to the library’s functions such as bibliographical description, preservation, account, user service and professional cooperation.
