Academic libraries in the new sociotechnical perspective: Part four: Modern discourse of librarianship and advances in E-scienceAbstract: The paper is devoted to an overview of key trends in academic libraries of late 20th – early 21st centuries. The fourth part of the research presents some of key librarianship paradigms concerning the creation of the global digital infrastructure for high-technological, collective, multidisciplinary, data-intensive scientific process of 21st century (e-science or cyberinfrastructure). The article examine the nature of academic library as a sociotechnical institution and analyze main pressure points of e-science librarianship: a lack of financial resources and appropriate staff, the absence of appropriate theoretical basis, motivation problems, and the lack of a unifying direction within the academic community.
