Classification in the electronic environment

Section: The evolution of library science structure and functions under the impact of modern information technology

Abstract: The focus of this article is on the scope of concept «classification» in the electronic environment, its genetic link with traditional classifications. The online versions of the Library of Congress Classification and Dewey Decimal Classification are described as well as the approaches to classification of electronic resources.
