Infrastructure of retention of electronic scientific and information resourcesSection: The evolution of library science structure and functions under the impact of modern information technology Abstract: The paper is devoted to an overview of key trends in academic libraries of late 20th – early 21st centuries. The second part of the research is concentrated on issues relating to creation library infrastructure for digital preservation of scholarly information resources. The experience of academic libraries with institutional data repositories is presented. The software package DSpace is described in details. Furthermore, it is examined issues of digital preservation initiatives of academic libraries. The LOCKSS, a technological paradigm for digital preservation, is examined.
