The Press Service of V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine as a Strategic Instrument of Sociocultural Communication in Crisis Periods (2020–2024)

Abstract: The purpose of the article is to analyze the activities of the Press Service of V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine in 2020–2024 as a strategic instrument of sociocultural communication under crisis conditions, to reveal its role in shaping the Library’s public image, fulfilling its educational mission, and ensuring effective interaction with the public and the mass media. Methodology. The research methodology is based on systemic and structural-functional approaches and employs methods of analysis, synthesis, and generalization. The case-study method is applied to reveal the transformation of the Library’s communication practices during the specified period. Scientific novelty. For the first time, a comprehensive analysis of the activities of the Press Service of V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine in 2020–2024 has been conducted, highlighting the transformational aspects of its evolution into a sociocultural media center. It has been established that, under the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic and martial law, the Press Service acted as a strategic instrument of communication, humanitarian mediation, cultural diplomacy, and professional community consolidation, strengthening the Library’s institutional agency at both the national and international levels. Conclusions. The study emphasizes that, during 2020–2024, the Press Service of V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine became a strategic resource for ensuring institutional openness, affirming the Library’s status as an authoritative sociocultural center, and developing innovative forms of communication amid social challenges. The gradual transformation of the unit into a full-fledged media center enhanced its role as a tool of strategic communication and humanitarian diplomacy, contributing to the resilience and institutional agency of V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine in the national and international information space.
