Theoretical analysis of dissertation research on the problems of internally displaced persons in Ukraine

Abstract: The purpose of the article is to study and analyze dissertations that address issues related to internally displaced persons in Ukraine; to determine the characteristics of the array of researched dissertations by place of defense and academic degree; to systematize defended dissertations by topic and scientific fields of research. The research methodology. To achieve the set goal, the work used a systematic approach to the classification of scientific works, applied quantitative and qualitative analysis of an array of dissertation research, analytical and synthetic method of document processing, and methods of content analysis and comparison. The scientific novelty lies in the comprehensive analysis of domestic dissertation research (2015–2025 defense) that concerns the problems of internally displaced persons in Ukraine. The article first systematizes defended dissertations by topic, academic degree, place of defense, and scientific field of research; the most studied issues and promising aspects of further research on the issues of internally displaced persons in Ukraine have been identified. Conclusions. During the period under study, 92 dissertations were defended in Ukraine, which addressed issues related to internally displaced persons. The array of protected scientific works is divided into six groups: general issues of supporting displaced persons, state policy, legal status and protection of IDP rights, social protection and adaptation of IDPs, medical and psychological disorders and conditions of IDPs, socio-economic and cultural rights of IDPs. The largest number of dissertations has been prepared in the field of legal sciences, a certain number of which are devoted to the analysis of the legal status of IDPs. A significant part of the dissertation research, which concerns general issues of support for displaced persons and state policy, considers the issue of displaced persons in passing, without in-depth analysis. Social protection and adaptation of IDPs, addressing medical and psychological disorders in displaced persons, and certain areas of implementation of the socio-economic and cultural rights of displaced persons were among the most researched issues of IDPs in theses.
