Ukrainian embroidered shirts of Wilhelm Habsburg: historiography, reсonstruction of the "Vasyl Vyshyvanyі ornament"

Abstract: The purpose of the article s to establish the chronology of the appearance of Ukrainian shirts in the life of Wilhelm Habsburg and, accordingly, the emergence of the pseudonym "Vasyl Vyshyvanyi", is to clarify the number of embroidered shirts, the circumstances of their appearance, the specifics of ornamentation and their identification in photo documents, and to develop an information base for reproducing a modern version of one of his embroidered shirts to mark the 130th anniversary of his birth. The research methodology consists of the method of historiography analysis, the method of historical retrospective to accumulate facts about the features of the appearance of Ukrainian embroidered shirts and the pseudo "Vyshyvanyi", the reconstruction method to produce a modern version of the Ukrainian shirt of Wilhelm Hasburg. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the fact that for the first time the specific problem of the appearance of embroidered shirts in the everyday life of Vasyl Vyshyvanyi has been investigated. Conclusions. Thus, a historiographical analysis of information about Wilhelm Habsburg wearing embroidered Ukrainian shirts was conducted. A new periodical source with the article "Archduke Wilhelm" has been introduced into scientific circulation, which allowed us to clarify the circumstances of the appearance of the first embroidered shirt of the Archduke. The study specifies the time of the appearance of the pseudonym "Vyshyvanyi" based on archival materials. The article presents the results of the reproduction in the material of the modern version of Vasyl Vyshyvany’s embroidered shirt, which was presented to him by Katria Hrynevycheva.
