Formation of the system of professional development of librarians in the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine

Abstract: The purpose of the article is to highlight the issue of starting a system for raising the professional level of librarians in the first decade of operation of the National Library of Ukraine (now the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine), a representation of the first active courses based on the book collection. Research methods. The principle of historicism, scientific objectivity and systematicity made it possible to analyze the development of the system of professional development in the largest book-collecting state. It was important to use the socio-communication method, which contributed to the identification of the peculiarities of the initiation and operation at the initial stage of library courses. The use of a systematic approach contributed to the implementation of an objective analysis of the initiated courses, their formation and content. Scientific novelty. The results were obtained, which form a systematic idea about the origins of the system of training and raising the professional level of librarians on the basis of the largest book collecting state. Conclusions. In light of the full-scale military aggression launched by the Russian Federation against our country, the coverage and popularization of the true history of Ukraine and the library business in particular is of particular importance. The complex century-old history and impressive experience of the country’s largest book collection to expand its activities following the example of the best book collections in the world and oppression by the Soviet leadership against all good initiatives is extremely revealing. The organization of the system of professional development of librarians, which was planned to be deployed on the basis of the National Library of Ukraine and which was to become the basis for the training of average library staff for all academic libraries of Ukraine, was no exception.
