Section: Library affair and science in the conditions of martial law in Ukraine

Abstract: The purpose of the article is to reveal the peculiarities of the work of the Scientific and Information Departament of the T. G. Shevchenko Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the first year of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The research methodology is based on the application of both general scientific methods, such as analysis, synthesis, generalization, and statistical methods. Data from the annual report wereused. Scientific novelty. The remote services that were provided are indicated, namely: virtual assistance, provisionof UDC, the order of which was made through various messengers (Viber, Telegram, Facebook), e-mail, phone calls.The hostilities caused both a number of problems, in particular, related to the safety and psychological state of the members of the department’s staff, the preservation of the material and technical base, as well as manifestations of elements of cohesion. The scientific novelty of the research is evidenced by the fact that there is not so much available published information about the libraries of the network of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine during thewar. Particular weight is given in the article to the fate of former employees of the department. A feature of the activity of Scientific and Information Departament of the T. G. Shevchenko Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is that the department combines both scientific work and the provision of library and information services. The planned scientific topic – "Pages of literary and artistic magazines: chronological and systematic index of the content of the magazine "Vitchyzna" (1933–2009)" is characterized. Conclusions. According to the results of the conducted research, it was found that in the conditions of active military operations, library and information activities are transferred to a remote format, activities to preserve the most valuable copies of the book fund are intensified, communication and support between employees of the organization is established.
